"For what it's worth, it's never too late... to be whoever you want to be. Start whenever you want. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you live a life you're proud of, and if you're not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again." -Eric Roth

Trauma-Responsive Therapy Approaches

Tides Therapy & Consulting focuses on trauma-responsive care for children (ages 6+), adolescents, and adults.

We are deeply committed to making sure individuals don’t fall through the cracks. Special attention is given to historically underrepresented and underserved populations, with the goal of increasing access to high-quality, culturally responsive mental health care for those who need it most.

For children, we offer a family-inclusive, child-centered approach to support healing from trauma, emotional challenges related to neurodivergence, and developmental delays. For adults, we take a client-centered approach tailored to those navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, communication difficulties, and the lasting impacts of trauma and PTSD.
Using evidence-based and integrative therapies, we create a safe, compassionate space for healing—helping clients of all ages build emotional awareness, strengthen relationships, and move forward with greater confidence and resilience.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR helps the brain process and heal from difficult experiences.
It supports the nervous system in letting go of the “stuck” parts of a memory so it feels less upsetting over time.
For both adults and kids (age 6+), it can reduce emotional distress and build a stronger sense of safety and self-understanding.
CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps both kids and adults understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. It teaches practical tools to manage big emotions and respond in more helpful ways.
EFT
Emotion Focused Therapy
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) helps people better understand, express, and regulate their emotions. It’s based on the idea that emotions give us important information, and when we learn to listen to them with compassion, we can begin to heal. For both kids and adults, EFT supports building emotional awareness, strengthening relationships, and creating space for deeper self-acceptance.
Creative Arts
Creative arts expression uses activities like drawing, movement, or storytelling to help process emotions when words aren’t enough. It’s especially helpful for kids and adults who feel more comfortable expressing themselves through art, and can support healing, self-understanding, and emotional release in a gentle, accessible way.
Reiki for Nervous System Support
Reiki is a gentle, evidence-informed practice that helps shift the body out of stress and into a state of deep rest and healing. By activating the parasympathetic nervous system, Reiki supports regulation, emotional balance, and the body’s natural repair processes. It can be offered as a stand-alone session or integrated into therapy—especially helpful for those navigating trauma, anxiety, or chronic stress.

A Note from Amber
Therapist, Owner

As a cancer survivor and proud mother of two autistic children, I know what it’s like to move through life’s hardest seasons—when things feel overwhelming, uncertain, or just too heavy to carry alone. I’ve learned firsthand that growth is possible, even in the most painful chapters, and that with the right support, we don’t just survive—we rebuild.
At Tides Therapy & Consulting, we’re here to support post-traumatic growth through compassionate, trauma-focused care. Our practice is grounded in the belief that healing begins with safety, connection, and understanding the nervous system. We specialize in working with children, teens, and adults navigating a wide range of trauma experiences—from one-time events to ongoing stress and adversity.
If you’ve landed here, it means something inside you is still holding onto hope—that wise part of you that believes things can get better by talking about them. That’s powerful. It’s okay to feel lost, discouraged, or unsure. This is the first step, and we’re here to walk the rest of the way with you.
